Frequently asked questions

Jewellery appraisal in Paris

Where can I have jewellery appraised in Paris?

At Altmann Collection, 22 rue Drouot, Paris 9e, in the historic Drouot auction district. Appraisals are free, by appointment, Monday to Friday from 10 am to 6 pm.

Is the appraisal really free?

Yes. The verbal appraisal is free and without obligation. Only a written inventory, for insurance or estate purposes, may be invoiced.

What is the difference between an appraisal and an expertise?

The appraisal gives the market value of your piece; the expertise establishes its authenticity, stones and signature. We carry out both, on the premises.

Do you make an offer after the appraisal?

Yes. If you wish to sell, we make a firm offer on the spot, with no fees or commission, and pay immediately.

Can I get an opinion from abroad?

Yes. Send photographs of the piece — and of any certificate — by WhatsApp or e-mail; you receive a first opinion within 24 hours, before travelling to Paris.
